I began working with teenagers at the LAE Tottenham school in 2018, after a student who attended one of my lectures at LCC shared her story of losing two school friends to suicide. With her help we created a TPM education programme with head of Art- Marina Nimmo.
25 pupils, aged between 16-18, took part in a series of six workshops which covered everything from basic camera skills to phototherapy and even a trip to the Getty Archive. The course culminated in an exhibition of their creative work in which they answered the brief “How does it feel to be a teenager in the modern world” with stunning results. Supported by Cannon, the exhibition received incredible feedback and the winner and runner up won a Canon camera and printer.
